My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME: Sasha RDV 910
BREED: German Shepherd Mix
GENDER: Female
WEIGHT: 30 lbs
AGE: DOB: 07-12-19
LOCATION: Terryville, CT
DONATION: $450.00 (includes transport)

ADOPTED ON 01-26-20 Sasha is a six month old female, 30 pound, spayed, Black Shepherd mix. We believe she will always be small. Sasha and her sister were surrendered to Jasper Texas Shelter when they were babies, they were only four months old. The owner said that they were both running into the street and that they were turning them in because they "wanted a better place for them". However, they surrendered the two babies to a kill shelter. Then in order to save them from being euthanized, they were rescued by RDVG’s partner and taken to YaYa’s Bow Wow boarding house for rescue dogs only.

Sasha is now in foster care in Terryville CT; her foster mom tells us that she is awfully sweet and very submissive—be sure to see her video. She appreciates her new life, is crate trained and housetrained. Sasha enjoys playing with other dogs and her foster believes that she will do well with children of any age. However, many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Most important, it is your responsibility to make sure that your children and the dog are supervised at all times and safe. You cannot leave it up to the dog, the dog is an animal and will behave like an animal. They rely on us to guide and protect them, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Sasha loves to romp outside with her buddies and does try to play the boss with little dogs. She would be a great family pet who will hike, enjoys attention and will push her way to get to you if you are giving attention to another dog. She is a social dog, would be a great couch potato and would do well in an active home as a part of a family daily life.

Sasha has a wise quiet inner peaceful soul that is looking for a family where her heart will fill with happiness She would benefit from having a fenced yard, but not required, that she can run around in, and she would do well if you have another dog buddy for her to romp with but she would be just as happy with a family. Sasha has been imagining and waiting for someone who will love her unconditionally. Her basic prerequisite is an adopter who is as devoted and loyal as she will be to you.

ABOUT THE BREED: German Shepherds are friendly but have calm confidence about them, they may seem kind of reserved. Most GS owners say that the characteristics of German Shepherds are that incredibly loyal, and friendly. When in need, however, a German Shepherd is instantly ready to protect, play a game or perform a task—in some cases as a guard dog, police dog, herder or seeing eye dog. With a strong work ethic and an eager intelligence, GS breeds are good with other dogs and children especially if they have been exposure to them.

ABOUT OUR RESCUE
These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption donations never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherihed as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their re-homing, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches, as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!
