2 BOYS ADOPTED 1/11/20; 3 BOYS ADOPTED 1/12/20; 2 BOYS ADOPTED 1/14/20. We have 8 adorable baby boys available for adoption! They were all born in late October 2019 and are now fully weaned and ready for their forever homes. We have 7 little black and white hoodies and 1 black berkshire...all have black eyes and standard top ears. All of the little rascals are busy and curious and will make wonderful family companions. It is our expectation that the boys should be neutered when they are a few weeks older for optimal health and longevity and to preserve an even temperament. We will gladly provide the contact information for veterinarians in the area who can perform the surgery safely and affordably.
The baby brothers have strong bonds and must be adopted in pairs, trios, or a larger group. The adoption fees are $20 for a pair, $30 for a trio, and $5 for each rat thereafter. Please contact us at rats@smallangelsrescue.org for more information. Make sure to include your name and phone number in your email. We respond to all inquiries. If you do not receive a response within 48 hours, please assume there was a problem with your message and kindly contact us again. Thank you for considering adoption, rather than supporting the commercial sale of animals.
Check out www.martinscages.com for great rat habitats. Martins ships quickly from PA. We recommend the Rat Lodge (R-680).....or larger. For your convenience, Small Angels Rescue has Rat Lodge (R-680) powder coated cages in stock and available for purchase at cost. Any habitat should provide a minimum of two and one-half cubic feet of space per rat. Please check with us before purchasing a cage other than a Martin's cage. Some cages are the correct dimensions but have other problems. We are happy to assist you in choosing an appropriate habitat and can save you time, money and frustration. Remember, there is no such thing as a cage that is too big! Check out The Grotto on the Dapper Rat website for housing inspiration! http://www.dapper.com.au/grotto.htm Unsure how many rats a particular cage will appropriately house? Use the Rat Cage Calculator! Remember to click on 2.5 cubic feet and click on Imperial (inches) before calculating. http://www.rattycorner.com/odds/calc.shtml
The rats of Small Angels would like to remind everyone that cedar bedding and pine bedding are toxic to all animals. Please use Carefresh bedding (first choice) or aspen bedding for your animal friends.
Never put your rats in an exercise ball. Exercise balls are dangerous and stressful for all animals. Rodents have poor eyesight. Their vision is even more limited in a cloudy colored ball. They always run into furniture and walls, which they don't see coming. It's like a car crash for them. They back up to try and get away and end up crashing into something else. Its very stressful. In addition, paws can get pinched/broken in the air slits. Animals can easily become over-heated. If they go to the bathroom in the ball, they have to run in their own waste. Furthermore, their great joy in life is exploring and checking things out with their paws and noses. They can't do that in a plastic bubble. Provide a large, safe play area for your rats and skip the ball! For wonderful toy and activity ideas, visit www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm.
