Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you are interested in meeting Flipper and considering her for adoption, please visit www.evenchance.org/adopt and fill out our adoption application. An Even Chance representative will be in touch within 72 hours.
1. What is your name?
I was named Flipper because my brothers, sisters and I were all named after sea creatures!
2. How old are you?
I was rescued as a little puppy, and now I am 9 months old!
3. What do you look like?
Most people think I’m black in color, but I’m actually what is referred to as “seal”. While in pictures I look black, I actually have lots of brown in my fur and it is so pretty. I’m just going to go ahead and say it, I was the prettiest of my siblings but don’t tell them I said that.
4. What do you like to eat?
I’ve been eating like a queen here at my foster mom’s. I get a variety of raw meats, veggies, goat’s milk and lots of other goodies to keep me growing strong and healthy. This stuff is good, but I would eat anything (even that kibble stuff) if it meant I have my own bowl, bed and home!
5. What kind of personality do you have?
I am a puppy so of course I love to play and there are times I just need to run and get my energy out! Of course, I also have times where I just need to rest and snuggle with my foster mom, as I’m still a growing girl. Sometimes I will accidentally get myself into mischief when my foster mom’s back is turned, but it’s only because I love to explore and experience new things.
6. Describe your perfect day
I love going on walks around our neighborhood, but one of my favorite things to do is to figure out these food puzzles my foster mom has. They are fantastic and I think I’m pretty good at them! It really doesn’t take much to make me happy, as I can have fun with almost any activity or toy. I enjoy playing, learning, and exploring during the day to get my energy out, but I also look forward to cuddling up on the couch at the end of the day.
7. What is your favorite toy?
My foster mom bought me an endless supply of toys to keep me from chewing on stuff around the house, so its hard to choose just one toy as my fav but I think I love my food puzzles the best, they make me think and I get lots of cookies….so good!
8. Do you know any tricks?
I don’t know that I can do any tricks per se, but I have mastered sit and down. I also walk nicely on leash and am practicing to hold a long stay (it’s hard, I get distracted). Pretty much if you hold a cookie in front of my face I’ll stare at you all day long.
9. What scares you?
I am not really afraid of anything. Although, if I hear something, I will definitely let you know.
10. Do you like cats?
I’m not really sure what I think of those beasts. Curious looking things. I’ve never been around a cat to have an opinion.
11. Do you have any doggie best friends?
I play with my foster sisters when my foster mom lets me. She says I don’t need to play with them so much and wants me to play with her instead lol. She’s so funny.
12. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Honestly, I’m a simple girl and anywhere you are is where I want to be.
13. How is your health?
According to my veterinarian, I am in excellent condition. I’m growing like a weed!
14. How long have you lived in your foster home?
It’s been 5 months since I was rescued and brought into a foster home with Even Chance.
15. Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I share a beautiful home with my foster parents and foster siblings. I have two people siblings that are at school or with friends most of the time. I also have two dog siblings who tolerate my puppy antics and play with me sometimes. All of my foster family is great, but I’m probably closest to my foster mom. We spend a lot of time hanging out and learning things together.
16. Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
I hang out in my crate when there aren’t any people home to keep an eye on me. I don’t mind napping in there until someone is home to play with anyway. I am also working on keeping my crate dry while my foster mom is at work and she says I’m doing great.
17. Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate next to my foster mom’s bed. I really don’t mind sleeping in my crate because it is filled with plenty of warm blankets and it’s my own special place where I can sprawl out!
18. What do you love about your foster family?
I love that my foster family is so understanding, patient and dedicated to meeting all my needs. I am grateful that Even Chance rescued me! I don’t know what I would do without them helping me to grow and blossom into an ambassador of the breed.
19. What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
Flipper is part of a litter of 8 puppies in Even Chance Pit Bull Rescue's foster home program. These 8 puppies were born in a Michigan shelter shortly after their mother was taken in as part of a dog fighting case. They lived in the shelter for 5 weeks before coming to Even Chance.
Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they spend time in our homes. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
