My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
My name is Gracie!

How old are you?
Dr. J thinks I am closer to 5 years old, but I look young for my age.

What do you look like?
I am mostly white and brown on my head with a few brown spots around my body. I have a very sweet face with expressive eyes. I am around 30 lbs. so I am a little lady.

What do you like to eat?
I LOVE food! I will eat anything. I learned to wait for my food when I get fed because I used to get a little too excited. I have never been aggressive about people being by my food. I just wanted it faster than they could put it down. I love all treats, especially Cheerios! I tend to gain weight, so my foster mom limits the amount of Kongs and bones I can have.

What kind of personality do you have?
I am super lovable with people. I have 3 foster dog siblings and I love them, but I would much rather be next to my humans. I am very scared of thunderstorms and loud noises. I self soothe by just staying in my kennel (which I LOVE)!

Describe your perfect day:
My perfect day would include getting to cuddle, chew on my nylabones, maybe a get a KONG!! I like short walks around the neighborhood and lots of treats!

What is your favorite toy?
I like chewing on antlers or nylabones. I have some stuffed animals and I play with them rarely, but they stay in my kennel and keep my company.

Do you know any tricks?
I know sit, down, and going in my kennel. I am getting ready to start classes at No Leash Needed because I just finished 2 months of rehab from knee surgery.

What scares you?
Thunder and lightning are the worst things in the world. I KNOW when the barometer is changing and I just stay in my kennel. It has always been my safe place. Loud noises like fireworks can also make me shiver.

Do you like cats?
I’ve seen cats on my walks, but I don’t pay attention to them.

Do you have any doggie best friends?
I love my foster sister, Lucy. She is a pit bull mix that's 9 years old. We had a really slow introduction to each other and are best friends now. I do need slow introductions to other dogs that I don't know. I’ve had a lot going on the past 2 months with my knee surgery and being spayed.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
My kennel or on the couch with my human family. I do love to snuggle in a kennel with my sister, Lucy.

How is your health?
My health is great! I was spayed in July 2018 and did great after surgery. My teeth are really white and my coat is healthy. I’ve lost weight and that helps my knee get stronger and stronger.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with my foster parents and 3 dog siblings. I hang with my mom and Lucy the most, but Daddy loves to snuggle with me on the couch and I love that.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
When I have to stay home alone I stay in my kennel next to my foster sister, Sally. My foster parents trained to give us a treat and we go right in our kennels (actually I RUN in my kennel because I love treats so much) and usually sleep the whole time they are gone.

Where do you sleep?
I always sleep in my crate in the same room with my foster sister, Sally. I'm quiet the whole night because I do love my sleep. Sometimes before bed I get to hang with my whole family and I love that.

What do you love about your foster family?
I love that my foster family lets me cuddle with them. I also love to get treats! I love that they are teaching me new stuff to make me even more adoptable.

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
I was rescued by the ASPCA from a dog fighting bust in Georgia. I was a breeding dog and Dr. J says I have had at least 5+ litters. I lived in a temporary shelter with the ASPCA until I was released to my foster mom. I am so happy learning how to be a part of a loving family with other dogs and humans.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they grow up. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
