Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dozier loves you already and has lots of energy for walks and runs. He loves his stuffed animals mostly for chewing , shaking and ripping, but sometimes he'll cuddle with them too. His first love is absolutely his people, especially his adult people. He has some anxieties when exposed to very young children or babies so would do best in homes without small children. He also is anxious around other dogs, but can get along with them when supervised in the beginning. He's spent about 4 weeks total at a popular kennel in the 15 months that we've had him, and they successfully had him running around eagerly and companionably with the other assorted sized and behaved dogs in attendance each stay. He's also had guests stay over with very small dogs that he became friendly with after a short period of supervised exposure, and he's been very good friends following a couple of supervised encounters with our neighbor's large dog. He is smart and tries very hard to please his people. He's very food motivated, so treats will have him "jumping through hoops" to be rewarded. He really loves to cuddle and be around his family, and will definitely warn his people if anybody comes to the door unexpectedly. When/if you leave for the day for work or other he will await your return very well behaved, and then upon your return will be overjoyed and he'll greet you most enthusiastically - who wouldn't love such a warm welcome back home! And throughout the evening he always rests quietly and patiently until you are ready to bring/put him outside to start the new day.
In the 15 months that we've been Dozier's people, we have hired two trainers to help us (brand new dog owners) learn how to NOT make/reinforce behavioral mistakes for Dozier's benefit. Each trainer was for different skills - one to help us learn how to best acclimate him to other dogs so that we could board him without fearing for his psyche while we traveled for our son's wedding, and the other to help us expose him safely to our 5 YO grandnephew, and to learn how to train him, an older dog with the unfortunately established bad habit of not responding consistently to come when called. And for that specifically we were told we needed to change the command word from "Come!" to something new to him so we used the Spanish equivalent, "Venga!" Dozier's pretty close to perfect in his reaction except for the couple of occasions that he's gotten out because one of us is attempting to leave in our car - he just truly adores being with his people! On those few times he's ignored the command from the house. We absolutely always provide him with a treat when he does respond appropriately (which again, is pretty much every single other time, so stock up on treats to be ready before you need to call him!) The same trainer also advised us to have him sit and stay after setting out his food for a few seconds or so, and to only eat once the command was given. I share this because I want to be sure to avoid confusion for both you and him in your home, as I'm sure you will love each other immediately! Dozier is almost 7 YO, has had all of his shots, is neutered, and had a complete dental exam and cleaning last summer (dentist gave him an A+ for dental health & a chew toy!). Dozier would be very happy if you invited him to share your forever home!
