My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone! My name is Albie! I am a few days away from my first birthday and I’m currently weighing in at 68 pounds. I may be a big boy, but I promise you my heart is even bigger. I love long walks, a good squeaky toy and, most importantly, I love a good cuddle and belly rub right before bedtime. I am a very smart boy. When it comes to tricks, I can sit, I can shake and I’ve also been doing well learning the “leave it” command. I am housetrained. When it’s time for me to go potty, you will know. I will begin to pace, but if you don’t catch on, I’ll usually give you another hint and start scratching at the door. I don’t jump on humans, except for the rare occasion when I want a hug. Since being rescued by my foster Mom, I’ve been living every husky’s dream. I’ve been rooming with two husky siblings who I get to play with everyday, but best of all ... we get to go to work with my foster mom who manages a doggy daycare.

When I was first rescued, I had a big fear of meeting new humans. However, for the last two months, I’ve been socializing and playing nicely with others. I still get a little nervous with the initial meet and greet, but in almost no time, I’m bound to come and give you kisses! My foster mom says I still have puppy energy and would do amazing with someone who has husky experience and/or lives an active lifestyle. I promise that with commitment, training and love, I will be an amazing family member. Let’s just remember those night time belly rubs are a requirement. Please give me a chance and apply today! Adoption fee: $80. Adopt a pair: $120. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
