Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Marley, a male Golden Retriever, possibly mixed with a Nova Scotia Duck Toller. I am a rescue who has lived with my current family for 5 years, and I am looking for a new home. I am not sure how old I really am, buy it’s somewhere between 7-9 years old.
I am in good overall health, up to date on vaccinations, fixed, and my only health issues you should be aware of are that every few months my ears need to be cleaned, and some years I have seasonal allergies in the fall which are well controlled by a medication called Apoquel.
I am young at heart and am very loving and friendly to humans of all ages, shapes colours, and sizes – not sure about little babies as I was not exposed to them. I am very loyal, house broken, obedient and calm the vast majority of the time. I love playing with my humans, but I also do not insist on it if the time isn’t right or if they’re busy. I love being outdoors, and I am very happy to be outside roaming around nice fenced in areas.
Before finding my existing family, I had a very difficult upbringing that has left me anxious around other animals, especially dogs. My anxiety sometimes turns into a display of aggression if I feel threatened, which can make me a bit of a handful when I’m stressed out on walks. My current family worked with me over the years and I am much more balanced now, but their life situation is changing, and they say that I would benefit from finding new home with people who can better tend to my needs.
Despite my anxiety with other dogs, I currently live in a house with a Shitz Tzu mix who I get along with well. I have also met one or two other dogs along the way who I get along with, but it’s uncommon. That said, if I am to have a dog brother or sister, I would need experienced guidance from my human(s), who understand my problems and have had experience with doggies like me before.
What I’m looking for is a family or owner outside of the city where I won’t encounter many other dogs. If there’s a fenced in backyard where I can be outside, I would love it! Preferably my new human(s) would have experience with reactive dogs and understand the challenges and rewards that working with doggies like me bring.
This is a courtesy listing.
If you think you might be a good fit, please contact my current humans Ania & Chris, to discuss any details by calling 613-983-6648 or at chris.and.ania@gmail.com
Looking forward to meeting you!
Woof!
