Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Merry is a 2 year old female chi, house trained and good with other animals. Please list in local areas, not just Hsv. Thanks!
Merry is a precious 2-3 year old Chihuahua mix, weighing approximately 8-9 lbs. She was absolutely terrified in the shelter, but with patience and love she has adjusted very well in her loving foster home. It didn’t take long for her wonderful personality to emerge and she became an affectionate, playful, and totally delightful little girl.
Merry loves to cuddle and be held! She is very much a lap dog. (See video in comments). She is great with the other dogs in our household and especially enjoys playing with one of her foster sisters. She is beginning to show an interest in toys and she enjoys chewing on cow hooves. Merry is completely confident now inside her home and she also enjoys exploring her back yard. However, as soon as she hears an unexpected or unfamiliar sound she sprints for the door. She is hesitant about meeting new people but not fearful as long as they give her space and allow her to warm up on her own terms.
We feel that Merry would do best in a fairly quiet household of adults where someone is home most of the time. She is the perfect companion dog for someone needing a best friend. We think she would be fine with teenagers but we fear that she would be stressed by the noise and activity that naturally occur in a household with younger children. Merry would love to have a canine playmate in her forever home. Although she chose to spend lots of time in her crate when she first came to us, now she is only crated when no one is at home. At night she’ll want to sleep cuddled next to you, most likely under the covers. Merry has taken short walks on the leash several times and does well until she hears a noise or until a car passes by, then she is ready to be picked up and carried like the princess she is! She is progressing well with house training and will need a patient adopter to help her continue the great work as she adjusts to her new home. Merry has a good appetite and enjoys her mealtime plus occasional treats.
It appears that before she was rescued Merry had at least one litter of pups but that won’t happen again because she was spayed immediately after she left the shelter. She will be microchipped before she is adopted, she is spayed and current on vaccinations and heartworm, flea and parasite preventatives. She is fostered in Huntsville, AL. Email MeghanEClayton@gmail.com to talk to her foster family.
