My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Atticus

Atticus could sure use a lot of TLC. This poor boy must have led a scary and sad life before being picked up by Animal Control. We pulled Atticus on Dec. 17, 2019 and brought him to our shelter in the hopes of finding him a loving forever home.
Atticus is a handsome two-year old hound mix. It looks like he could have a little St. Bernard in him given his slightly droopy eyes, sweet expression and floppy ears, but who really knows. We just know he’s a sweet and handsome young dog. He’s a medium size boy, weighing 51 pounds. Atticus is nothing but gentle and shyly friendly. He has spent some time in a home with children and he loves, loves children. He would make an awesome family dog.
Atticus came to us terrified of most everything, but with the love of staff and volunteers, he is becoming an amazing dog. Most likely he was neglected and possibly abused throughout his young life. He is extremely submissive, beyond just timid, when confronted with a fear or something he doesn’t know. He doesn’t act out, but rather brings his pain inward and shuts down. We’re spending a lot of time with him to show him that he doesn’t need to be afraid. Atticus is treat motivated which helps us coax him into new situations like walking on a leash or going through a doorway. It’s a slow and steady process, but every day Atticus gets braver. He will need a family who is willing to invest time, love, and patience because poor Atticus has so many diffciulties to overcome. With the right family and attitude, Atticus will make for a life long companion.
Atticus seems to be submissive with other dogs, and is good with cats, but we will require a meet and greet for potential adopters. Atticus is a wonderful dog, and once he knows he is forever safe and loved, he’s going to be an exceptional dog filling his human’s life with fun and companionship. Come meet this special boy. Perhaps you’ll be the one to help him on his journey of healing.
Atticus is neutered, fully vetted and micro chipped.
