My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Merry
Our little Merry is a Christmas miracle! This beautiful young dog was never going to make it out alive if we didn’t do something fast. Merry had three strikes against her…four if you count her owners. Merry, a young black dog with heartworms was dumped at an over-crowded kill shelter at the holidays! Who does this? Merry needed a miracle. Once we secured a sponsor to pay for her heartworm treatment, we pulled her from Animal Control and brought her to our shelter on Dec. 17, 2019.
We can tell Merry has been through a lot in her young life. She is extremely timid and afraid of everything. She has no idea what’s happening to her or that she’s now at a place of safety, filled with staff and volunteers who will take loving care of her until we can find her a forever home. Every day though she gets a little more brave. She is so very sweet and friendly. Not a mean bone in this girl’s body, just love waiting to shine.
Doors scare her and we’re showing her how to walk through them and that treats are waiting for her on the other side. Merry LOVES her treats, which motivates her to try new things. Merry seems to like children and shows everyone she meets a shy friendliness. She is starting to wag her tail a lot more. She is learning how to walk on a leash. The noises of the shelter still seem to overwhelm her and can stop her in her tracks out of fear of what’s to come. It seems Merry was used by neighborhood dogs and as a result she had several litters of puppies. We’re working to show her that that’s not her life anymore. Only good things are coming her way.
Merry is absolutely gorgeous. We think she is a Siberian Husky/terrier mix. She’s about two years old. She is a medium size girl, weighing 42 pounds. She is solidly and sleekly built, with a glossy black coat. Her eyes are stunning – the bluest of blues and so piercing they don’t seem real.
Merry will need some TLC to help her fully heal, but she is so worth it. She is a tremendous young dog, with so much life and love to give. She will make for a wonderful companion. If you’re able to open your heart and home to this gorgeous girl, come meet our Merry, our Christmas miracle. You’ll be glad you did.
