My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ralph found himself in a cage at animal control when both of his owners passed away in a short amount of time. Animals experience grief as profoundly as humans do. Ralph had a hard time moving on from a life with his family, to life at the shelter.

He stopped eating completely. After weeks of supportive care, Ralph climbed out of his depression.

A full physical revealed a thyroid imbalance that was soon adjusted with one medicated chew a day.

Ralph now has the appetite of a dog! He loves interacting with people too. You couldn't ask for a friendlier cat. Now in his senior years, Ralph deserves to live in a quiet adult home. He would be ok with another cat, but the activity of multiple cat animals would be a little too much for Ralph.

UPDATE: The shelter is closed to the public at this time.

Does this cat get along with other cats? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition.

Does this cat respond well to dogs? The more important question is how the dog responds to cats. Most cats will adjust to a dog, given time and patience. If the resident dog's response to cats is unknown, that should be determined prior to adding a cat to the household. We can offer a few suggestions.

Is this cat good with children? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A cat will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with cats.

If you're interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, stop in during our open hours. For location and hours, see our website at https://wacshelter.com
