My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Roo and I am two! I’m a purebred female brown Newfoundland. I'm in a wonderful foster home near Des Moines, IA.
I didn't have the best start but not the worst either.  I lived with a family who's little two-footer got very sick.  They just didn't have time for me after that so I lived on a chain in their back yard.
They wanted my life to be better so they surrendered me to HANR.  Now I live with a lady and 3 other playmates!  I have quickly adapted to being a house dog and family member.  I am very treat and praise motivated and have learned a few things, like to sit and lie down.  Some of the other demands she makes of me like "off, leave it and settle" I know what they mean I am just not always in the mood to comply!  I am two and 100% puppy but I'm smart and I guess I will settle down when I am a little older.
I am house broken and good with free roam.  I do not like being crated at all.  I need a lot of leash work and continued basic obedience.  I love to play with toys, I will chase a ball for as long as you will throw it, I am a supreme slayer of squeak toys.  She says I run and jump like a deer so a regular 4 ft chain link fence would not be a challenge for me at all.  I have loved every person I have met. I have loved every big dog I have met.  I am not especially fond of small animals and probably shouldn't live with any.  I don't know what "cats" are but suspect I wouldn't be the best with them either. As far as little humans go, I would never hurt one on purpose but I am a big, playful, excitable puppy so I easily could hurt a young child accidentally. A home with children over 8 years old will be fine.
I am up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. I’m healthy, I was recently spayed, and I weigh about 100 lbs.  I am a lovely shade of brown and have eyes that'll dazzle you!  I am ready to blow this pop stand and start a new life with my forever family.
