K folks I'm on a mission - A mission to find this beautiful soul of a dog a forever home! She is the sweetest soul, gentle and kind, best snuggler ever and will make an amazing companion for someone.
Stella spent the 1st 5 years of her life living on a chain, owned by a not very nice man.
Stella has been here now just over a month and here is what I know about her:
Despite what she has been through, Stella loves ALL people. Young, old, short, tall . . Stella loves them all! She will approach new people with a shy perseverance like she isn't sure if you're going to be nice to her but she is darn well going to try to win you over!! Once she knows you're not going to hurt her . . She is all kisses and hugs! Yes . . Hugs!! Stella LOVES to jump up and wrap her arms around you while showering you with the slurpiest of doggy kisses.

Stella has pretty good house manners and is also crate trained. She is super quiet in a crate or kennel and picks up on house rules pretty fast too! Stella also loves walks and car rides and is a very polite passenger in the car. She soaks up every activity like she can't wait to see what the world has to offer her next! Stella also has quite the sense of humor! She will steal things when you aren't looking and then go hide them and wait for you to notice so she can get you to chase her while you search for them! She also loves to stand on 2 legs like a human and paw at the air with both her front feet when she wants you to pet her or put her leash on for a walk!

According to neighbors the only interaction Stella had with other dogs was when she was forcibly restrained while being bred so she could produce puppies. Due to her lack of positive experiences with other dogs for most of her life Stella understandably has mixed feelings about other dogs. She is what we call "dog selective". Stella has participated successfully in play groups and seems to do best with male dogs her size or larger who are either neutral or submissive but who also appreciate her rough and tumble play style. With a proper decompression and introduction period Stella can sometimes successfully interact with dogs she initially did not like - but due to the unpredictability of her opinions she is not at this time a good candidate for places like dog parks. I do think she could live successfully with another dog full time if given the right guidance during the first few weeks but she would also be perfectly happy as a single dog. Stella was previously in a foster home with cats and that foster reported that she was not good with cats.

This sweet girl is so grateful for even the smallest kindness and the most rudimentary of comforts. While she does very well here in the kennel she just lights up when she gets to go on outings or overnight field trips. This dog has such a beautiful spirit and she deserves the very best home for the rest of her life. If you think you can provide that for her I would love to chat with you!!
