Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lazarus is an adorable, sweet-natured, relatively calm male Jack Russell with an absolutely winning personality. He’s a little large at 18” but we have found he’s just that much more to love. He was found wandering around the Eno River near Durham, NC and was picked up by a very caring lady named Summer. Summer fell in love with Lazarus but her senior male dog did not. There were several intense fights; no major damage, but it was clear the old fellow wasn’t going to welcome the new kid into the family.
Laz has since come to live with a new foster Dad and he is very happy. He’s unbelievably sweet, an absolute charmer and one of foster Dad’s all-time favorites. He loves the ladies, both human and canine. When Summer comes to visit, he still lights up and he’s been terrific with the 3 females dogs with whom he plays each day.
Laz has a gorgeous rough coat and “feathers” down both sides of his neck. He was probably bred as a JRT and has a docked tail, but at 18” there’s something a little bigger in him. He is healthy, fit and trim, weighing only 23 pounds. He can bound across the yard in just a few hops when he sees a rabbit or squirrel. He definitely has the hunt instinct and he loves to run, but he does not have the intensity of energy of most young JRTs. And that’s a good thing! He loves to cuddle and play with his foster Dad. Foster Dad loves it too. He’s a truly special guy, a one of a kind that will win your heart the moment you meet him.
Lazarus is probably about 3 years old. He is neutered, up to date on all shots, negative for heartworms and lyme, no parasites, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Adopters must have no other male dogs, no cats or other non-canine living furry or feathered things. A fenced yard or convenient daily access to a fenced dog park is required. Children under 6 are not advisable only because Laz tends to knock them over. He should be great wit older kids. If you are interested in this special guy, contact Christopher at uncbare@yahoo.com.
