My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Minnie is a precious little girl who is learning to enjoy the good life after being rescued from a dreadful hoarding situation. Our guess is that she’s a Maltipoo and that she’s approximately 7 years old.

When Minnie first came to her loving foster home in late October she was shy hesitant about being touched, although she did allow people to handle her. Slowly but surely, she has warmed up and has begun interacting more with her foster family, although she is still quite reserved. We believe that coming from the situation she was in, she wasn’t held or handled very much so she’s had to adjust to it. Although she still sometimes hesitates when we try to pick her up, she does love to be held and cuddled. She enjoys exploring her back yard and likes to lay in the sun when the weather is nice. She has been walked on a leash in the front yard but hasn’t shown an interest in going farther than that.

In her foster home, Minnie has been with several other small dogs and has gotten along well with them although she has never tried to play with them. She has a good appetite and gets excited when it is time to eat. She rides well in the car and is excellent in her crate. Her foster home has someone home most of the time but when no one it as home Minnie rests contentedly in her crate. She also sleeps in her crate at night.

Minnie is working hard on learning to only go potty outside. Apparently in the situation she came from, it did not matter where she went potty but she is making progress toward becoming house trained.

We believe that the best forever home for Minnie would be a fairly quiet one. Her foster family had her visit a family with children and she seemed nervous with the normal noise and commotion that naturally occurs in a busy household.

Minnie has been professionally groomed—no doubt for the first time in her life—and her teeth have been cleaned. She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her shots and heartworm preventatives.
