Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COAL is a 6-year-old neutered male black lab. Coal weighs 76 pounds, but should weigh 65, and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Coal is a great pup who is friendly and loves to be petted. When you first meet him his tail is wagging his body with excitement as he is happy to see you. He likes to retrieve and brings the ball back so you can toss it again. He likes treats and takes them gently. He had to belong to someone who cared for him as his coat is in good condition and he certainly didn't lack for food. His ideal home would have a family that would give him attention, exercise and a yard that he can play ball in. Good with other dogs. Knows come, sit, down. Pulls on lead, good with an Easy walk harness. Crate Trained probably house trained keeping his room clean at the kennel. The shelter manager said he said he is very friendly and loves to get attention. He is good with other dogs and likes to play.
UPDATE: Coal is a super happy, easy going dog and greets everyone with a full body wag. He loves to run in the backyard with the resident dog, but when he gets tired, he suns himself on the deck and comes back in the house to snooze. He has wonderful house manners - he doesn't bother anything that isn't his; he likes attention and getting on the couch with humans, but he is not demanding or in your face. He loves treats, but he needs to lose some weight, so he is not getting as many as he would like. He knows some commands - come, sit, and down. He is a strong boy and does best with a harness.
UPDATE: Coal #3 is an easygoing pup. His favorite activities include patrolling the backyard, getting treats for being a good boy, playing with the resident big dog, and snoozing on the couch. Coal is completely housebroken. He is crate trained, but has already earned free run of our house. He loves car rides. He does needs some work on his leash skills.
