Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Omari!!
If you are looking for the biggest brown eyes ever, who is cuddly and full of joy and playfulness then Omari is your boy! Omari is an 8 month old mix of Shih Tzu and Havanese who has an AMAZING coat that is soft as can be, non-shedding and hypoallergenic. Right now it looks like tiger stripes with light gray, dark gray and some tan.
Omari (and his brother Bentley who is also for adoption) were given away by their family who kept them outside in a little pen for most of their lives since they purchased them at 8 weeks old. Mom was a traveling nurse who found she had little time for them and the Dad wasn't a big dog lover so when Mom was away or Dad was around they spent most of their time in a small pen in the backyard. As you can see from the original photo of them when we got them they had never in their lives been groomed. Because of this, the size of the pen which had them laying in their own urine and the rain they had a mildew smell not even 3 shampooings could get rid of so our groomer cut them down short to get rid of the odor. Now these boys are clean, smell great and feel wonderful!
Despite their lack of socialization they are both very happy social dogs. Omari is about 15 pounds and loves to play! When he was able to sleep in bed with his foster Mom he threw himself on her chest he was just so happy to have a warm safe place to lay! He is great with other dogs and cats. He is a tiny bit afraid of men but that is just down to lack of socialization and goes away quickly.
His adoption fee includes:
1. Neuter
2. Current vaccinations including rabies
3. Deworming
4. Microchip
5. Professional grooming
6. Harness and leash
7. Starter food
8. Bed
9. Housebreaking (and he is NOT a marker)
As we prescreen via email ONLY ( we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the prescreening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment.
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
Some notes to consider before applying for Omari:
1. Omari is Shih Tzu and part Havanese and will require ongoing groomings every 6 weeks..
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER.
3. Omari is still a puppy at 8 months old. He is very playful and will need the stimulation of other dogs and people to be a happy adult dog! Please make sure everyone is ready for the responsibilities of a younger life!
4. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
