My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET JACK RYDER. Jack is a beautiful mostly-blond Yorkie who is 6-1/2 years old and weighs 4.7 lbs. He is being fostered in Tallahassee, FL.

UPDATED BIO 12/13/2019: Jack Ryder has only been in his foster home for a few days. His surrendering owners loved him but their life situation changed and they felt Jack would get more attention and have a happier life with another loving family and home.

Jack is a very sweet little boy who is continues to adapt well in his foster home. He has been crated a lot in his life and when he has freedom to roam outside, he gets so excited. He is very naïve about things that most of us take for granted - the sound of the windshield wipers on the car when raining, the sounds of birds chirping and the hum of the boats’ motors in the lake – he is hearing these sounds for the first time in his life. He is a shy little boy but seeks out his humans for comfort and freely gives lots and lots of kisses. He is slowly getting used to being picked up and petted and he now seeks out his foster parents for attention. Jack appears to be house-trained, but he will need a home where he can be taken out every few hours to reinforce his new schedule of pottying. Leash-training is going well – he is a smart little boy who wants to please his people.

Jack saw the vet today and had all of his vaccinations – hooray! He received a wonderful report from the vet who said he was a very healthy little boy. He does have a few teeth in the front that are worn down, perhaps from being crated for hours and hours every day, and will need a dental soon. Otherwise he is in excellent health; the vet suggested that he could gain another ½ - 1 pound to be a healthier weight After his dental, Jack will be ready to go into his forever home. He would be okay if there was another dog in the home close to his age and size, but honestly, he prefers the company of his people more than the company of other dogs. Jack would prefer a home in which there is at least one stay-at-home parent.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Jack Ryder’s small size, he cannot be adopted into a home with children under the age of 14 years old.
