Hi I am Hugo, but everyone calls me Baxter. I'm a 7 lb Yorkie and I'm ready for my forever family. My former foster mom thought she was going to adopt me so she changed my name. However, I am a super energetic puppy and my senior foster siblings did not appreciate my energy level so I moved in with my current foster family. I get along with all sorts of people and haven’t met a stranger I haven’t wanted to play with even though it takes me a bit to warm up to new people. I need to live in a place with no small children because they struggle to respect my space and I have a hard time determining when they're playing or fighting. I am easily irritated by little kids who haven't learned about personal space. I can also be easily injured because I'm so small. I also need a very playful fur sibling as I love to play, rough house and I prefer not to be alone. My foster mom calls me Mr. Wigglebottom because that is how I move around always excited for an adventure. I have been around many small dogs and I just want to play once we warm up to each other. I have not been tested with cats or big dogs. I even know how to use pet stairs so I do not hurt my little legs jumping on/off furniture.
I love getting my ears scratched or playing tug-a-war. We go outside to play fetch, only I haven’t quite figured out why my foster mom chases me to get the toy back. Finders keepers am I right? I may cower and scoot away when people go to pick me up, but that is just because you are so big and I am so small. Once you pick me up I love to cuddle and give kisses. I am still a puppy so I am learning what I am allowed to nibble on and what I am not. Hint- I love fingers and long sleeved shirts. Those are the BEST toys. I could play all day long if you let me, but once it is time to settle down I am a total cuddle bug. I sleep all night on my foster mom in bed, behind her maybe under her?!
I would like to spend my time with an active home. I need regular walks to help with my energy and even dog parks. I am very social. I am still working on potty training, but my foster uses something called a belly band. I really am the best dog that brings happiness to every room I enter. I do not like crates so I am mostly allowed to roam in a safe environment that is small dog proof. I will be a great addition for my forever family! I come with a lifetime dog sitter.
