My story

Hi! I'm Madre, a 2 year old DSH girl with a gorgeous black coat who became a mother a few months ago to some lovely kittens. Madre means “mother” in Spanish…so my name fits me well! I took excellent care of my kittens in foster care, giving them nourishment and love. After my kittens were old enough, we all went to the Montgomery County shelter where we parted ways - my kittens went to forever homes, and I came to AWLMC. With all this motherly experience, I have learned to be a gentle, confident, and loving cat. My AWLMC foster dad said I am also playful and downright adorable. While with my foster family, I liked to romp and play around the house, by myself or with the resident cat. Don’t worry about your furniture if I’m in the house – I love a good scratching post! Although I don’t stay long, I do jump into laps to say hi and let you know that you’re important to me. I love to sleep in the bed with you, near you but not on top of you. I know you need your rest so I am respectful with your space! Since I’m still gaining my strength after giving birth, I’m a big eater right now, especially delicious wet food. A healthy cat is a happy cat, and I’m certainly both! If you’re looking for a confident cat who knows how to both love and play, I’m your girl!
