My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fidget is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 8/22/19.

Sweetly endearing and quite mesmerizing with those big, very expressive eyes, round eyes - all innocence and wonder; but blink once, then appears mischievous imp, entirely well-intentioned but clearly plotting her next conquest. On the slender-side, with physique more “still filling-out” than robust right now, this delightfully charming young panther is both friendly and gentle, as well as lively, animated, and very playful; but as she’s still settling in, she can be somewhat hesitant about all things unfamiliar to her. Increasingly initiating interaction on her own, she’s pretty curious about and interested in her surroundings, but not yet completely confident about being picked-up and held. Give her a minute to warm-up though and you’ll feel her start to relax, even showing appreciation with some soft, gentle nuzzles and purring.

Fidget only recently came to our shelter from her foster home after being weaned from mom, Jasmine, so she’s still acclimating to her new environment. We are working on socializing this young feline with people right now, and it’s paying off with Fidget showing herself increasingly feeling safe and knowing she can trust us as well as other people. Without a doubt, she as well as all of her littermates will be happy, confident kittens once they settle-in and become more familiar with their new environment.

Fidget and her littermates all spent their first weeks in a foster home where they became experienced with and were comfortable and at-ease with other compatible cats as well as calm, cat-friendly dogs (very big ones).

Fidget, along with siblings Baloo, Dory, Mushu, and Mulan, were all born in one of our foster homes to young, inexperienced mom, Jasmine who came to us pregnant from Monroe County Animal Control. All fragile and small at birth, they have thrived under the joint care of their feline mom and foster mom. Fidget and all feline family members have been pretty healthy on our watch thus far too, receiving preventative treatments for fleas, worms, and other intestinal parasites.

A healthy and friendly, if not entirely confident, kitten right now, Fidget is looking for a forever family who can give her the time and attention a kitten needs to grow into the social and confident young feline she was born to be. We recommend a paired-adoption with one of her littermates, although a pairing with several of our other kittens having compatible personalities and temperament might also be a good fit too.

Fidget is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of 12. She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs, but she’ll need some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Fidget currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her Tuesday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm; or by appointment; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays. To start the adoption process for Fidget, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
