Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dory is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 8/22/19.
Dory has a larger-than-life personality and without a doubt he’ll be maturing into a “big cat” in the coming years. And we feel you need to know, this sweetly engaging young feline, unquestionably and immediately, places his trust in all he meets, having zero awareness of any possible dangers in the world. An entirely sincere guy, very loving and affectionate, he’s an adoring and adorable young tabby who will quickly reveal his delightfully sweet charm to one-and-all in his spirited play and uninhibited invitations for one-on-one time and attention from people.
Like most kittens, Dory is pretty lively and curious about his environment, and once he's comfortable, he’ll be looking for adventure wherever he can find it. He has a great love of toys and, most often, he’ll be sticking close to his brother, Baloo, in any adventure-seeking activities (although not always); sometimes he’s perfectly content to explore on his own too, making use of his independent time by honing his feline skills -- prowling and stalking shadows, dust bunnies, toys, sometimes even other kittens, whatever is available. Dory also appreciates interactive playtime with his people too. A cat tower will go a long way toward making Dory happy too as perching and watching the world from his own little sanctuary is one of his favorite just hanging-out pastimes.
Dory, along with siblings Baloo, Mushu, Fidget, and Mulan, were all born in one of our foster homes to young, inexperienced mom, Jasmine who came to us pregnant from Monroe County Animal Control. All fragile and small at birth, they thrived under the joint care of their feline mom and foster mom early on and continue to do so at our shelter. Dory and all feline family members have been pretty healthy on our watch thus far too, receiving preventative treatments for fleas, worms, and other intestinal parasites as well as URI’s.
Robustly happy and healthy as well as extremely friendly, Dory is looking for a forever family who can give him the time and attention a maturing young cat needs to be social and confident. We recommend a paired-adoption with one of his littermates, although a pairing with several of our other kittens having compatible personalities and temperament might also be a good fit too.
Dory is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs, but he’ll need some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Dory currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him Tuesday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm; or by appointment; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays. To start the adoption process for Dory, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption
.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
