My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m SASSY and I am the life of the party! Everyone I meet loves me! I just turned 1 years old on Valentine’s Day and looking for my forever home. I am a very active girl who would love a home with another active doggie, but I’d be fine on my own too. I like to cuddle and loves to give kisses. I’m fully grown now and weigh 25lbs.

I'm very much still a puppy and always up to silly antics. I have an amazing personality! I am fully housetrained and I’ll stand at the door to let my foster mom know when I need to go out. I would definitely benefit from puppy classes so I can learn to be the best girl in the whole wide world. I’m working on my leash training. I sometimes am reactive to people on our walks, I like to let people know I’m here. I get along very well with my foster fur siblings, who are always willing to indulge me when I want to play. I'm crate trained, I’m in my crate during the day and will go in sometimes when I want to be alone. I LOVE my treats and toys! I prefer to sleep in bed with my human but also enjoy my big bed, as long as I’m near them. I sleep through the night. I’ll need a house with a fenced backyard, because I like to run and jump.
I’ve discovered my voice and sometimes will bark, so an apartment might not be the best for me. I also am more of a lady’s dog; men seem to scare me. My foster mom is pretty confident with some proper training this can easily be fixed, because I do like my foster granddad.

I may be small in size, but I have the biggest heart around! Please adopt me so I can show you how much I love you!

A letter to my future adopters From Sassy’s foster mom:
“First off, I would like to thank you for your application for Sass. Sassy is a wonderful little girl, who has lots of love to give. She loves to give cuddles in bed in the morning. She loves her toys, especially her squeaky ones, and can entertain herself for hours. She is crate trained and will go in when she needs a break, but prefers sleeping with the humans in their bed. She is fully house-trained when let out frequently, she still does have an occasional accident in the house. She loves to run in the backyard!

I wanted to give you a brief history of this sweet girl. Sassy arrived in Canada on December 1st 2019 and has been with me ever since. She is a very spunky girl, who likes to remind you she is here (she was the smallest in her litter). She is very much still a puppy and will always have a very high energy level.

Sassy has always been hesitant around men, which has become much worse in the past few weeks. She had been adopted into a family of four in February. They appeared to be an great fit for her, her first meeting with them was amazing. After 10 days Sassy was sadly returned to me. She had developed a bad case of anxiety while in the new home. She also began barking at anyone she is unfamiliar with, especially when the doorbell rang. It took Sassy almost 2 weeks to return to her “old” self once she returned to me. The only thing that has remained is her barking, which is much worse than before she went to the other home. She will bark at visitors into the home, if she had been previously introduced to her before she left. For new visitors now, she barks non stop, more noticeably with men. I recently had a, new to her, male friend come over to help me with something. He was here about 3 hours and she barked at him for at least 2 hours of his being here. I tried numerous things to try to get her to stop and nothing worked.

I just wanted to be forthcoming with Sassy's recently developed challenging behaviours. We do have an online session with a trainer set up for later this week, who can hopefully give some suggestions on how to rectify this difficult behaviour.

I have been in talking with another family that has applied for her as well.

I love Sassy like she was my own and am wanting to find the perfect family for her who is willing to dedicate a lot of time to her training so that she will be able to reach her full potential.

If you are still interested in Sassy or have any further questions, please let me know.”
