My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is an 11 year old dog who found himself surrendered to the shelter because his family could not afford to treat his medical issues. He had painful ear infections, significant dental disease, skin issues, had never been neutered, and had a cherry eye that required surgical repair. He was a scared little dog in so much pain. We encountered a fearful guy who we could barely touch. His family had told the shelter that he was playful, good with young kids, wonderful with cats and dogs and so loving. We decided that we had to try to help him, and hoped that with proper medical care, he'd turn back into that dog the family described. Hunter was not an ideal post op dog, but his foster family gave him time, space and a consistent routine to allow him to decompress. Slowly, step by step he seemed to sense things would be okay and he more calmly accepted eye care and relaxed in his new foster home. He enjoys the company of his canine foster sibs, and enjoys walks and playtime in the yard. Now he prances around with his tail wagging all the time, sleeps without a peep in the master bedroom, and can often be found in a lap or snuggled under a family member’s chair. Hunter's ideal home is one that can continue him on this path of success! His past traumas have definitely effected him, but he has turned back into that loving, incredible companion that his prior family described.

Please note because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to schedule a meet until we receive a completed adoption application. We do often have adoption events. Please reach out for upcoming dates!
