Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our sweet Yeti (or Spaghetti as his 3 year old human foster sister likes to call him!) This handsome older Terrier mix was found wandering as a stray with his leash still attached. He was at the shelter for over two weeks, but no one ever came looking for him. It breaks our heart to imagine how he became separated from his family member. Two weeks in a crowded shelter was very hard on this little guy. When he first arrived, he barely ate or got out of his bed. We would whip up meal after meal, trying to coax him. He took a trip to our vet who cleaned up his teeth and removed a big benign mass from his neck. They also removed a large one from his back leg. This seemed to be exactly what he needed, because he returned home from surgery a completely different dog! He now eats anything and everything! We didn't even have to hide his post surgery meds in food. He would just gobble them right up! He has an internal clock that alerts him to when his foster family should be providing him a meal. He gets up and prances all around until they take the hint! He is a professional snoozer and can often be found snoring in a dog bed. He spent several days sleeping downstairs in a dog bed without incident, but one day (at about 2 am) we heard him bark and carry on for the very first time. It seemed to finally strike him that he didn't belong downstairs, but upstairs in the human bed! So, ever since at bedtime he waits to be carried upstairs with the rest of the crew and happily sleeps through the night without a peep snuggled up against his humans. It has been an absolute joy to watch this little guy blossom! He even plays with toys now! Yeti is housebroken, walks perfectly on a leash, is wonderful in the car, was a well behaved patient for the vet and a perfect pooch for his grooming. He has been around both small and large dogs and is great with all. The only time we've ever seen him show any displeasure was when another dog attempted to steal his dinner! He is great with small dog savvy children and lives with a 3, 5 and 7 year old.
If interested in Yeti, please complete an application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org. Any questions can be sent to info@seniordoghaven.org.
Please note because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to schedule a meet until we receive a completed adoption application. We do often have adoption events. Please reach out for upcoming dates!
