My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? Hi! My name is Happy!!

How old are you? I’m 3 years old (a/o 05.14.2020)

Are you a boy or a girl? A boy of course

How much do you weigh? I weigh 47 lbs. It’s important that I stay lean to help me stay mobile.

What do you look like? I’m a super short little dude. I look like a full sized pit bull on tiny little legs!

What do you like to eat? Chicken Soup for the Soul kibble.

What kind of personality do you have? Pretty easy going and like to relax a lot, but I also get really excited about meal times. Don’t you?

Describe your perfect day?
My perfect day would be hanging out with my people, getting lots of loves, pats, and scratches. A few treats and snuggles, and a soft bed to end the day.

What is your favorite toy? I don’t play with toys much but sometimes I’ll pick up and chew on a stuffed toy.

Do you know any tricks? I’ll sit but that’s about it. I will stay if you work with me on it. Does looking cute count as a trick?

What scares you? I don’t like the vacuum and I don’t want to get wet from the sprinklers.

Have you ever been around children? I like children but should be with older kids or those that understand my physical limitations.

How do you feel about other dogs?
I need to be the only king in my castle. 👑

Do you like cats? No. I cannot live with cats.

If you could be anywhere in the world where would it be? On the couch, watching tv with you!

How is your health?
Overall I’m a healthy guy. But because I’m a dwarf, I would have chronic pain if I wasn’t on daily meds. With my meds, I’m a happy guy that gets around great! (Hence my name😉).
I take daily medication:
Galliprant 30mg
Tramadol 100mg
Gabapentin 200 mg
Wag Worthy- Hip and Joint
Total cost per month is around $30-$50.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion? My foster dad and grandma. They love me and spoil me and love my company.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? My crate is my safe place.

Where do you sleep? In my crate.

Do you like walking on a leash?
No, I just like to take a few short walks around the yard.

Do you have any not so great habits? I might chase a cat if one comes by, try to get out of my crate if I’m bored and like many dogs I don’t like to share space when I eat. I eat alone.

Are you house trained? I am house trained but need to go out first thing in the morning because I can get too exited to hold it.

Do you like water? Not really, I’ll let you wash me but prefer to stay dry.

What do you love about your foster family? I love getting loved on and enjoying the laidback farm life.

What was your life like before being brought into Norcal Bully Breed Rescue? I don’t remember my life before NBBR took me in, but I’m sure glad they did. They’re such an amazing group of loving and caring individuals.

⭐️HAPPY’S ADOPTION FEE IS $200.00⭐️

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread throughout the Sacramento area.
We require our adopters to be within a 50 mile radius of us.
This is because we need to do a physical yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed.
(*FaceTime or Skype are NOT acceptable methods of communication regarding yard checks.)

We HAVE made exceptions for dogs that have been with us long term, and for senior dogs. We would still need to perform a yard check, and would be happy to do so for a dog that has been passed over repeatedly, but not for dogs that are in high demand.
It would need to be to a neighboring state to California. NOT across the country. That would be too much.
(*We will NOT be making this exception for puppies or designer breed dogs, so please don’t ask. It’s way too much for us to have to request time off of work and lose pay to drive a dog out of area when we have plenty of great homes in our area wanting to adopt these dogs.)

We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks.

Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog.

Our adoption fees are based on the dog and typically range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). In the case of designer breed dogs, like French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, the adoption fee will be significantly higher in order to offset the costs associated with their surgeries, or associated with their demand.

Interested in meeting this dog or another one of our available dogs? Simply complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com (FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER, not cell phones, yet! We’re working on that!!) and we will respond to you within 3-5 days. Once a yard check is completed and you’ve passed the adoption process, you’re welcome to meet any of our dogs!!!

Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope we are able to match you up with your next family member!!! Looking forward to your application!!!
