My name is Bunk & Remy #2!

Bunk is a 7-year-old neutered male black lab. Bunk weighs 91 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

MOST RECENT UPDATE: Bunk and Remy are a fun duo and enjoy napping between bouts of play or walks. They are medium energy, requiring two walks, inside or fenced yard play, and a couple of bathroom breaks each day. Busy streets do not bother them, although Remy may bark at a random loud vehicle while on a walk. They both learned to use stairs and enjoy following foster mom around. They are house- and crate-trained. Neither dog barks in the house unless strangers come to visit, and then they will both get worked up and bark. To address this, we recommend introducing people to the dogs outside and then having the group come into the house together; this approach is quite successful. When Remy is released solo from her crate to greet visitors, she does fine as she is submissive; Bunk chills well when left in the crate on his own while she visits. Both Bunk and Remy love attention from people when on walks or at the dog park. Bunk may sniff another dog, but is most interested in the owners. Remy is always excited to see another dog, and although she may grumble she settles with a quiet word. Both dogs do well spending time individually with foster mom, and then they are super excited to see each other again:) Bunk and Remy are approved for placement in a single-family or a townhome.

CHAPTER ONE: STAIRS
Myth to de”BUNK”: Dogs who can’t do steps should go to a single-level home.
“REMY”dy: Unless there is a physical condition that prevents it, don’t assume a dog who won’t do stairs should go to a home with few steps. Dogs can often learn how to navigate stairs with a leash on for confidence, gentle encouragement, and treats to entice forward movement. Going UP steps is often easier than doing DOWN, and outdoor stairs seem to be less scary than indoor stairs. Both Bunk and Remy were nails-digging-in, pancaking-down-flat terrified of indoor steps on arrival. Bunk got the hang of it within a day. Remy took a few days to learn, but she is now the dog who leads the charge up or down any staircase.

About the authors: Bunk and Remy #2 are bonded siblings who must be adopted together. They are approved for kids 10+, good with dogs, unknown with cats but have low prey drive.

RECENT UPDATE: Bunk and Remy are a stunning pair that could hypnotize you out of anything, including your heart, and you will submit willingly as they pay you back with sweetness and adoration. They quickly bonded to Foster Mom and follow her everywhere. During walks, they don’t need harnesses because they don’t pull, presumably because they are too busy looking up at FM with adoring eyes as they walk next to her. Even in the dog park where they can run free, they spend most of their time right by FM’s side. After a couple of weeks in foster care, Remy is more confident and doesn’t retreat to her crate when unsure and often sleeps on a dog bed with belly up and legs splayed wide. She now welcomes attention, eagerly comes over to get leashed for a walk, and bravely goes up and down stairs on her own. Bunk has learned that he doesn’t need to be protective of FM when people come near or into the house. Bunk can be stubborn and his adopter will need to firmly show him who is in charge. They have each begun to play with some of the toys sprinkled throughout the house and this morning they snuggled together as each was belly up while they playfully nipped at each other’s face.

UPDATE: Bunk and Remy are like yin and yang. Bunk is your standard, run of the mill kooky crazy lab. He can’t decide if he wants to run around or crawl in your lap. Remy, on the other hand, is a sweet girl, always ready for whatever attention isn’t hogged by her brother. Both will need some time to get comfortable in their home. Bunk is an energetic 7-year-old and will need a strong handler and family willing to give him and Remy the exercise they need, such as two long walks plus yard and indoor playtime each day. They weren't bothered by traffic when they went on a hike with a volunteer. Both are fine with steps. Remy was a little unsure at first, but cookies brought out her inner adaptability. DESCRIPTION: Bunk and his sister Remy are ready for a new chapter in their lives! This sibling pair formerly lived outside in a kennel together around the clock, so they're very interested to see what the good life is truly like! They were very excited to meet our volunteers, but settled down quickly. They also got to meet our volunteers' dog and did well. They have no history with cats or children and are approved for children ages 10 and up. Are you their happily ever after?

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and North Carolina. Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
