My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocco and Lizzy is an affectionate, fun-loving, adolescent German Shepherd Dog. He's around a year old (born 1/20/2018).  He came into the rescue with his sister, Lizzie.

They still act like pups, full of curiosity and MISCHIEF.   Like all young GSDs, they get into stuff, explore, and do the crazy things puppies do:  especially chew!  They need an experienced, patient home that can help them learn what's allowed and what's not.

Rocco is playful, energetic, assertive, rambunctious, and confident. He is eager to please his person.  Like any growing youngster, he still has lots of energy and an inquisitiveness that needs to be monitored.  He is a smart and athletic dog and would be likely successful in advanced training.

Around other dogs, he likes to steal the affection from people and be the star of the show.  He gets along great with the older GSD in the foster home. He also LOVES going to the dog park and socializing with the other dogs.  (There are no cats or kids in the foster home, so we have no information on how they do with them.)

He is house-trained and crate-trained.  He's learning good leash manners in the foster home.  He is already a great jogging buddy, and he'd love to be able to continue to get plenty of exercise after adoption.

This terrific dog has needs an adopter capable of providing diligent care to make sure he continues to stay healthy.  He survived two tick-borne diseases (Babesia and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever), thanks to fabulous care from our vet.  Our rescue paid for his treatment, and he's made a full recovery.   However, a vet reference is needed to adopt him.

ADOPTION FEE:  $225

They tested positive for heartworms but their treatment is in progress (slow kill).

Upon adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

Information about our adoption fees and our adoption process is available on our website: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org.

If you are interested in meeting any dog listed as available for adoption, please fill out an adoption applicationhttp://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Sorry, we are not able to respond to requests for information by telephone.  It is not possible to meet any dog without first completing an adoption application.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt.  Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.
