My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet as Pie -- but her name is Pei!
Pohnpei, or Pei, is a sweet pittie looking for a special home.  You see, prior to joining the corp, she sustained some pretty serious injuries, including a broken back, pelvis, hip and both back legs. She did not receive much medical treatment and was simply allowed to "heal". Once she was well enough, she went to a foster home, where she was attacked by a resident dog.
A local vet tech took her in, promising to get her better and find her rescue. Not knowing her full medical condition, RWC welcomed her last summer. A trip to the the vet and a set of x-rays told us the extent of her injuries.  We were informed that surgery is not an option, she would be in pain for the rest of her life.  Her pain is managed by a low-dose anti-inflammatory with each meal.

In spite of the injuries, Pei is a wonderful, loving girl. And to watch her run and play, sometimes it is hard to believe she has any disability.

She is unable to do stairs and will need to be on a pain management protocol for her life. She is great on the leash and would love a daily walk . A 4-legged sibling would be great, but she may be picky about her new best friend because of her history. She loves children, but I think older children would be best so she is not accidently hurt. She is housebroken. She is not crate trained, but there is no reason to crate her.

Pei is UTD on vaccinations, is microchipped, dewormed, given flea and tick prevention  and has been fixed. Pei is currently being fostered in Bolingbrook, IL and would love to find a furever home!   if you are interested in meeting  or adopting  please apply online at www.rescuewarriorscorp.org and we will arrange meet and greets with approved applicants . Are the dogs currently listed not what you are looking for? Do you have a favorite breed and are having trouble finding it? Feel free to follow us on facebook, we are always saving more dogs.  https://www.facebook.com/RescueWarriorsCorp/

If you can't adopt, please consider a donation care made directly to the rescue via paypal or contact us at info@rescuewarriorscorp.org. We will do our best to respond to any and all requests and contacts as soon as possible, but we are a 100% volunteer run rescue. It is great because that means we can keep our adoption prices low because we are not paying salaries, but all of our volunteers do have families and "real" jobs in order to support our passion of saving animals from euthanasia often just days or hours before they are scheduled to be put to sleep. That being said, one of us are going to do our best to contact via email or by phone within 48 hours of any inquiry. It is not uncommon that when you have made the decision to add to your family and committing to adopting a rescue dog that you are very excited, we just ask that you be patient with us.
