There is a new precious gem in town —— “Jade” has arrived at PWD!
Jade is a 3.5 year old visually impaired Aussie Mix. She is blind in one eye and has limited sight in the other due to cataracts. She has arrived in rescue because she accidentally walked into a tree, and her “owner” saw that as reason enough to have her put to sleep. Thankfully, the wise and wonderful doctor on her case refused to destroy this beautiful young being. The vet saw Jade’s unbroken spirit and knew she was perfect to love and be loved by her forever family — She just needed the chance to find them!
Custody of Jade was signed over and she was brought to PWD. So many changes for her in just one week, yet she has handled them with style and grace. Jade is a great dog showing the true nature of a young Aussie. She is attached to her person, loves toys, is wanting to please and getting along with any dog that is ready for a great game of chase. She is approx 60lbs - and has no problem displaying the Aussie "swag" with those gorgeous hips.
Jade's visit to the Ophthalmologist has confirmed that due to a detached retina in her left eye, she is permanently blind in that eye - BUT, the right eye is a great candidate for cataract surgery, potentially giving her perfect vision in that eye. We are excited about the possibility giving the gift of sight to this fabulous girl. She is full of life and so deserves the chance. Will you help with the cost of her surgery? She will have a 4-6 week recovery before going to a new home.
She will be placed in a home with another young playful dog and a fenced yard.
