Here's what the humans have to say about me:
2/16/20 -I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!
1/27/20 - Pippin has been in her foster home long enough to show her personality and she is truly eccentric. Even though she is younger in age, she acts like a little old lady. She does not take an interest in the other dogs and does not want one to try to play with her. So, she is not going to be good if someone is looking for companion for their dog. She would do ok with dogs that ignore her and would also be fine as an only dog.
She still continues to hoard the stuffed animals in a dog bed and is then VERY protective over them. If you try to touch one or pick her up while she is laying in her bed, she will bite. She isn't one that needs alot of affection and just likes to lay in her bed. Aside from quirky demeanor, Pippin is a sweet little girl that has obviously been through something that we do not know about and this is her personality now.
11/21/19- Pippin wanted to thank everyone who donated to her care. She is feeling much better and is catching up on some much-needed sleep. Sleep, food, vetting, grooming, and love are just a few of the major things that Pippin hasn't received in a VERY LONG TIME. This little yorkie was left to fend for herself on the streets where she was found in deplorable shape. We truly feel that she was a breeder cast-off for whatever reason. You can clearly tell that she has had puppies. BUT, she won't have anymore. She has been spayed and got all of her necessary shots and tested negative for heartworms. We don't think a mosquito could have gotten to her skin to bite it through the matted mess which was once hair.
Skip to today.... Pippin is a hearty eater and is definitely enjoying sleeping (under the covers). She will climb into the dog bed, scoot under the blanket, and turn around so that just her head shows. It's the cutest thing. She will be going to the photographer soon for her photo shoot and will grace the website with her beauty.
She is in a foster home with other dogs and as she gets her strength back and her personality is coming out, she is starting to show her diva side with a few of the other babies. Growling and snapping at them sometimes for no reason.
Now a few words from Pippin herself: Even though I can be grumpy, I am going to need some security in the form of bodyguards. The way I figure it, the princess that I've turned out to be, people will be falling all over themselves to pet and kiss me and I won't be able to handle all the attention. So, I'm interviewing for a couple bodyguards to be at my side 24/7 to make sure I'm not harassed. I, of course, am going to be very picky in my selection, so if you would be so kind as to fill out an application, my people will let you know if you get the job. My last bodyguards failed me big time since, as you can see from my before pictures, I did not even resemble a dog.
Small children are just not going to work since I can be nippy and get underfoot. I will update later on whether I will be able to co-exist with other dogs. I do like blankies in my dog bed and like to sleep under the covers with my humans. I've somewhat become accustomed to ice in my water, so that would definitely gain you some points. No one too loud or a choatic household will be considered, because I'm a petite baby that likes calm. I think that's about it for now. Stay tuned as I will update my "want/need" list as things come to me. Oh, by the way, you aren’t expecting to be paid, are you?
11/18/19 - YHR was contacted about Pippin who was found stray in the most awful shape. As you can tell from her before picture, she more resembled a creature, as opposed to the adorable yorkie she was after hours of shaving off all the excess rotten smelling, matted hair. We immediately went to scoop her up. You could tell that Pippin was excited to leave the shelter environment even though it was a step up from the hell that she lived before. However, her little body and immune system was exhausted. As is the case for most rescues, once she got to her foster home and was able to not be on the defense, she was unfortunately finally able to show her sickness and the fact that she was totally run down. She quickly turned her nose up at food and was throwing up.
Saturday, her foster mom got her to the vet and they said she was dehydrated and anemic among other things so they admitted her so she could get round the clock supportive care. We checked in over the weekend and Pippin started eating and had not thrown up.
When checking on her this morning, it seems the 2 days of fluids and antibiotics have boosted her and she may be able to go home today if she eats breakfast, blood work checks out and she continues not to throw up. We hope that once home, she continues to get better and her immune system gets stronger.
We will write a formal bio once she is feeling good enough to show us a personality so that we can adequately tell what she will be looking for in her next and last home. From her picture, we already know that a home that already has connections with a good groomer is something on her Christmas list.
