Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our sweet Ellie is ready for her forever home!
Ellie is the essence of a rescue dog. She was lost, scared and on the run. A beautiful girl that at one time had a home and family of her own, found herself running the hills of Livermore, unsure who to trust or where her next meal would come from.
Ellie has spent the past two weeks in a foster home decompressing and building back some of her confidence. One thing Ellie never lost was her natural desire to seek and give lot of affection. Ellie lives to love and be close to her human.
Ellie will do best in an adult only home or a home with children older than 12. While Ellie is as sweet as they come, she doesn’t always respect personal space and that can often be overwhelming for younger children (she currently has 2 human foster sisters ages 6 and 9). Ellie would do well as an only dog so that she could be the center of all of your love and attention, but good with well-mannered dogs that respect her space.
During Ellie’s comprehensive vet exam we learned that Ellie was born with less than excellent hips. She has a slight stiffness in her walk on her rear legs but it certainly doesn’t deter her and our two Vets have agreed that she seems well adapted, functional (no lameless), and doesn't slow her down. She has started on a daily low dose of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) medication and would benefit from a joint support supplement such as glucosamine.
Ellie deserves the perfect forever home for her. A person who has time and understands just what it means to bond and nurture a once lost and scared dog. Someone who knows that once you have the trust of a rescue they will be yours forever, the most faithful loyal friend you will ever be lucky enough to experience life with. Someone committed to giving Ellie the life she has always deserved and a future where she never has to be or feel lost ever again.
If you would like to meet Ellie please fill out an application: http://ozziespoundpuppies.org/online-application. Ellie is three years old 45 pounds Golden Retriever / Collie Mix (best Vet guess) and is fostered in Brentwood, CA (Northern CA)
