Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NO, I AM NOT PERFECT.....BUT DARN CLOSE.
I’m Diesel, a 10-month-old, pure bred (AKC registered), black, neutered male Lab. I was with a loving
family beginning when I was 8 weeks old, but recently turned in by my owners because of their child’s
health issues. (I myself do have a minor ear infection, but otherwise I’m in tip-top medical shape.)
I weigh about 52 pounds but have some filling in to do as I get older. I have lots of puppy energy,
especially in the morning after I have been out and then eaten my breakfast. I LOVE to chase and
retrieve a ball but will shred a KONG large tennis ball. My foster mom has taken away all the regular
size tennis balls for fear I’d swallow them. I like to chew but have not chewed people things, only my
toys. My foster dad and I go for 3-mile walks most mornings, and then I settle in with him in his office
while he works on the computer. I like to follow my foster parents around and lie on the floor at their
feet. I blended in easily with my two dog foster sisters, a 4-year-old black lab DLRR alum and a
13-year-old German shepherd. My foster parents say I am re-energizing my older sister by making a
game of retrieving. I am also good with children, although with small children I might be a little too
energetic. Visiting dogs are no problem, but I don’t know about cats or swimming. I am very lovable
and have good manners, but I am still a puppy who could benefit from additional training. I LOVE food
and treats and am a good learner. I am house-broken, crate-trained, ride well in a car, and know how
to use a doggie door. I understand basic commands but could use more practice. I like to sniff outside
on my enclosed patio but I am not savvy about the desert. I find cactus branches on the sidewalk and explore too closely -- OUCH! (Twice we needed tweezers for my muzzle to remove some stickers.)
So, if you want a good puppy that is handsome, lovable, fun-loving, and lively, but needs more training and regular exercise, then I am the Diesel for you.
