My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scat Cat is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 8/2/19.

One of 3 brothers in a litter of 4, Scat Cat, aka: Scatty, like all of his siblings, is an adorable and adoring, loveable little cuddle-bug, Extremely friendly and social, this outgoing character likes to initiate and join in ruff-n-tumble playtime with other kittens, and he is brashly curious in his adventure-seeking being completely unaware of any dangers in the world around him. Persistent inquisitiveness along with an uninhibited interest in checking-out all things in his environment, this sleek and stealthy feline has a hold-nothing-back, all-in approach to life, adding balance to this exuberance with his obvious high-intelligence – Scat Cat is really good and quick at figuring things out.

A warm-hearted, sweetly gentle, very people-oriented cat, Scat Cat will drop any activity he is involved in a second for an opportunity to share affection with his people – all people that is. The most independent of the 4 kittens, an instigator of playtime, and the most likely of the 4 to be leading-the-pack in mischievous kitten antics, he, like all of his siblings, is happy-to-be-present, confidently self-possessed, and quite easy-to-please. And after the playtime and exploring is over, Scat Cat will be looking to share loving-affection, snuggling in the arms of people, and before too long setting-off to find a warm, comfortable-spot where he can stretch-out and fall contentedly asleep. .

Scat Cat, along with littermates, Duchess, Toulouse, and O’Malley; came to Monroe SPCA from animal control because of being sick and not able to eat on his own - all four (4) kittens, barely more than infants, found orphaned/abandoned outdoors. None of them able to eat on their own, they required syringe and bottle feedings early on. The four kittens were treated for URIs and life-threatening diarrhea/dehydration as well as Giardia, Coccidia, and gassy intestines. Flea and Roundworm treatment at intake was also necessary.

Now a happy, healthy kitten, Scat Cat is looking for his forever home with a family who can give him the time and attention a young kitten needs. We recommend a paired-adoption with one of his littermates, although a pairing with several of our other kittens having compatible personalities and temperament would also be an excellent choice and good fit.

Scat Cat is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle. He likes and gets along well with other compatible cats, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs and respectful children of any age. Although extremely social and friendly with all, Scat Cat will need a little bit of adjustment time to warm-up and adjust to his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Scat Cat currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him Tuesday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm; or by appointment; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
