My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

💚Are you looking for a handsome boy who loves to play with other dogs?! Then Ben is the boy for you!!! Check out his bio!!💚

What is your name? I am Ben!

How old are you? About 2 years (a/o 05.01.2020)

How much do you weigh? 75 pounds

What do you look like? Brindle, with a white tipped tail and a white chest!

What do you like to eat? Purina EN is the best for my tummy

What kind of personality do you have? I am a cuddle bug and love attention. Sometimes I forget I am a big boy and don’t fit in your lap BUT I will try. I am super curious and love to meet new dogs. I am also pretty vocal so I may speak to get your attention.

Describe your perfect day: My perfect day is running around outside in the grass and playing with other dogs. My housemate and I love to play tug-o-war. I also love taking rides in the car with my head out of the window, so many sites and smells to take in!

What is your favorite toy? My favorites toy is a rope toy that I can carry around place in any ones hand that I meet (I may never let it go though)

Do you know any tricks? I know how to sit and come when I am called. I also know how to stay and can lay down when I am told "down"

What scares you? Loud noises sometimes startle me and I am not a huge fan of water.

Have you been around children? Do you like them? I am a big boy and can play pretty rough. It might be best if I am only around older kids who are dog saavy.

Have you been around cats? What is a cat? Sorry I guess I haven’t met one of those yet.

How do you feel about other dogs? I love other dogs! When I am on leash, I may bark at them to get attention but it’s all friendly. Off leash its game on, let’s play!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Rolling in the grass with my doggy friends

How is your health? My health is great, I do have some allergies though. We still aren't sure what the allergy is but we think it may be food. When my allergies show up I may get some irritation on my toes or have a little redness on my chest.

Who do you live with your foster home and who is your closest companion? I live with three humans and my best friend, Winston. Winston is a border collie mix and we have so much fun playing and cuddling together

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I hang out in my crate.

Where do you sleep? Sometimes I sleep in my crate but most of the time I sleep with my foster mom on her bed. I like to cuddle up next to her.

Do you like walking on a leash?I like walking on a leash but absolutely love running on a leash. I am very strong though so correct my pulling!

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard?I have a lot of energy so if I get bored or am not exercised I may sneak some things to chew on. That’s why my crate is so great, to keep me out of trouble. I am also a little vocal. I love to chat it up, that may bother some people.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) Yes, I am fully house trained and I will tell you (ruff) when I need to go outside

Do you like water? Not a fan, but I don’t mind a bath too much.

What do you love about your foster family? I love that I have a dog friend with me at my house and I love that they take me to the park

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
I was rescued by NorCal Bully Breed and brought to UC Davis because I had a fractured back leg and a fractured front leg (they don't know how). The surgeons at UC Davis fixed me up and I am fully mobile and love to run around (my back right leg is just a little bowed).

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 mile radius of us.
This is because we need to do a physical yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is safe and secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed.
(*FaceTime or Skype are NOT acceptable methods of communication regarding yard checks.)

We HAVE made exceptions for dogs that have been with us long term, and for senior dogs. We would still need to perform a yard check, and would be happy to do so for a dog that has been passed over repeatedly, but not for dogs that are in high demand.

That said, it must be a neighboring state to California. NOT across the country. That would be too much. (*We will NOT be making this exception for puppies or designer breed dogs, so please don’t ask. It’s way too much for us to have to request time off of work and lose pay to drive a dog out of area when we have plenty of great homes in our area wanting to adopt these dogs.)

We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks.

Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog.

Our adoption fees are based on the dog and typically range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). In the case of designer breed dogs, like French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, the adoption fee will be significantly higher in order to offset the costs associated with their surgeries, or associated with their demand.

BEN's ADOPTION DONATION IS $200.

Interested in meeting Ben or another one of our available dogs? Simply complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com (FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER, not cell phones, yet! We’re working on that!!) and we will respond to you within 3-5 days. Once a yard check is completed and you’ve passed the adoption process, you’re welcome to meet any of our dogs!!!

Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope we are able to match you up with your next family member!!! Looking forward to your application!!!
