Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Henny and Chocolate Chip are two young guinea pigs, who came to us separately, both surrendered by their previous guardians, who no longer wanted to care for them.
Skittish and afraid of touch at first, the two boys spent weeks in their foster home, adjusting to their individual roomy living enclosures, and daily out-of-cage time, in a large play-pen, with loads of tunnels, hiddy houses, and other piggy fun items. As time went by, the boys became more confident and once ready, they were introduced to each other. The bonding took a few days, as they had only a few moments together at a time, on the neutral play-pen territory, while sharing a salad, and exploring the newly placed items, for them to have fun with. In no time at all, Henny and Chocolate Chip developed a friendship and looked forward to the time they could spend together. Once we saw them taking an afternoon nap by each other, on day eight, we knew it’s time for the boys to share one living space, and not have to be separated anymore.
Now fully bonded, this young pair helped one another to feel even more self-assured, and are routinely seen, and heard, asking for snacks, running laps in their hefty living space, popcorning from excitement, and even appreciating the one-on-one time with their human caretakers.
Adoptable as pair only, we are looking for a forever family experienced in all things guinea pigs, who can carry out the task, responsibly and privilege of further helping the boys open up, and provide them with a stable, nurturing and loving forever home. If interested in meeting and adopting, email us at adopt@emptycagescollective.org, and check out our website for info on #cavy housing, diet, care and so on.
