Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Eda, a very cute 1 year old golden mix (possibly with labrador) who came to us from Turkey. She was found in the forest along with her mother and 2 sibling puppies. Unfortunately by the time our rescuer found them, Eda’s siblings had not survived the harsh conditions of the forest. Thankfully, Eda and her mom were rescued.
Eda is a high energy puppy who would be a great companion to an active adopter. She currently is getting about 5 miles of walks a day, and she would love more. Her foster mom is using a gentle leader head collar and is teaching her not to pull on leash. She needs a variety of exercise and stimulation to keep her mind engaged. Eda is super smart and treat motivated, so training her will be easy. Her foster family has already been working with her on a few of the key obedience commands such as ‘sit’, ‘wait’, and ‘down’. They are also working on ‘stay’. Her forever family should be prepared to commit to positive reinforcement training to help set Eda up for success.
Eda gets along great with other dogs, and loves playing with her doggie foster sister. Having a playful doggie sibling or access to lots of puppy play dates with friends/neighbors would be important for her forever family.
During the day, Eda really enjoys having access to both the house and the yard. She will bark at the other critters she spots in the yard, or in response to neighbor dogs barking. Having a doggie door (or open door) to a yard would be important for her. She enjoys checking in with her humans throughout the day, too, and gets very excited when they come home. Having her humans around during the day would be ideal as she prefers to know where her people are. When she relaxes, she loves hanging out on the couch.
In many ways, Eda acts like a very young puppy. She will jump up on people, gets a little mouthy, will put her paws on the counter, and will bark for attention. She is easily re-directed, but will need her adopter to be consistent and reward the good behavior so she learns. Everything is new to her and she is a happy girl exploring her new world. She has been doing great with potty training and has not had any accidents at her foster home.
We are looking for an adopter who is home most of the time and will be able to provide the variety of exercise/stimulation Eda needs. Additionally, do positive reinforcement training and lots of continued socialization with other dogs. In turn, you will have a fabulous companion.
NOTE: due to the high cost of medical care and overseas transportation, Eda’s adoption fee is $500
