Maizy is a 19 month old red merle Australian Shepherd with a full tail. She weighs about 26 lbs.and had one blue and one amber eye. She is spayed, current on immunizations, has been dewormed and is on preventatives.

Maizy is a very smart dog. She responds well to treats. When it is bedtime we simply say, “bed” and she goes in her crate, but she expects her treat. She sleeps well at night in the crate. Maizy roams free in the house all day. We take her out at night for an evening 45-minute walk. She pulls the leash but will come to you if you tug gently. She goes crazy when a car goes by, unless you make her sit until the vehicle passes.

Maizy is very fast and would make an amazing agility dog. She will jump on the furniture, but never on the table or counter. She gets off the furniture quickly, takes direction well. SHE NEEDS A JOB. If she has a job, she will do very well. She is bored at our house because she is unable to go outside on her own.

Maizy has a mixed relationship with our cats. The cats are indoor/outdoor cats. She will run after the cats. She has been known to pin the cats on the floor, so she would do best in a home without cats.

We have no small children in the home, so we don’t know how she will respond to children. Like many Aussies, she is very protective. When a stranger is near the house, she can bark like crazy.

The perfect home for Maizy would be a home with very little foot traffic and lots of opportunity for exercise/physical and mental stimulation.
