Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bentley is looking for a special someone!
Bentley (sometimes known as Bento Box) has had a VERY difficult start to life. If his wounds were physical, we would be horrified and know his pain with just a glance. How sad it must be to be an adolescent puppy that has never known the kind touch of a human, only anger and hatred. He had never been inside of a building and it was clear there was some physical abuse wherever they were kept.
He went to a foster home with two young, happy dogs that have never known anything but love and slowly, bit by bit, we began to see Bentley come alive. He is extremely playful but knows how to entertain himself, he trots and prances when he walks, and he is a great cuddler. His coat is very, very soft and plush, with minimal shedding. He is great with cats and dogs, would not recommend him with small/young children. We are beginning to learn to go on walks and he is doing very well.
Bentley paces the house often, still trying to learn how to just be a dog (we wish we had a video of the first time he felt a bed!!!!). We are still working with him daily on things as remedial as sitting in the living room with everyone instead of nervously pacing or trying to communicate how to go to the bathroom. We celebrate each day with Bentley as a new aspect of his personality plays out. Each butt wiggle, each cheek kiss, each paw play session means he is truly learning how to be a dog!
All he truly needs is a person to call his very own, to bond with and become confident in his daily routines. Yes, you will gain a second shadow! He rides in the car like a champ and could be a wonderful dog for someone looking for a co-pilot to adventure with!
One of his siblings had a DNA test done and the results were: Catahoula Leopard Dog, English Shepherd, Greyhound, Whippet, and Smooth Collie! What a wonderful mix!!
Could you be his special someone? Adoption Applications are on our website at thearrowfund.org
