ADOPTION PENDING

Meet Pete and RePete who are named this because they look so much alike. They are beautiful birds and are cagemates estimated to be 2-3 yrs old. They were surrendered to a shelter because the owner couldn't care for them anymore. They were adopted from us in May 2020 & sadly they are lost their home once more, because no time for them. Being committed to care for a pet for its full life needs to be considered before adopting. Our lives are & will be full of changes, so this needs to be realized.
Our guess is these birds were not handled in their former home, they didn't try to bite, just seemed unsure how to perch on a finger and preferred to sit on their foster mom's hand or shoulder. They will probably take a few short training sessions to be comfortable being held. Parakeets are easy to tame with patience and a little time. They love to chirp,sing and are active little birds. The adoption fee for the pair is $22.00 (they could be adopted with a cage for an additional fee of $20). An application and home visit are part of the adoption process so all potential adopters must live within 30 miles of Aurora IL.
