Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bella Rose is an adorable 3-year-old (estimated), 8.5 pound Maltese Mix being fostered in Summerfield, FL. She is a precious on the inside as she is in on the outside because she has what I can only describe as “an inner light” that is constantly lit and she brightens ever room and heart she enters. She is gentle, super loving and good with all living beings, human and canine alike. She loves to play, go on walks, cuddle in your lap, sleep beside you in bed, give you kisses and just spread joy wherever she goes. She also likes to bark when she is engaged in a game of puppy chase with her foster siblings. She is 90% house-trained. She is a good eater, a good traveler, and an all-around good doggy! Bella would be happy in just about any home, but she’d really love to have a good-natured fur-brother or sister to be best pals with or access to a neighborhood doggy friend who visits frequently. She would also be a great family dog for a home with children who know the proper way to handle a small dog without being too rough. Bella has a very full and fluffy coat and regular professional grooming is an absolute MUST.
Bella is an ALMOST PERFECT doggy. She came to us with eyes and skin in very bad shape. We took her to a Veterinary Ophthalmologist where we were told she had a condition called entropian, an anatomic abnormality in which the eyelid turns inward on itself. This condition is painful and can lead to corneal ulcers, perforations and loss of vision. No way were we going to let this sweet little girl suffer so we scheduled her corrective surgery and her defect is now corrected. However, Bella has chronic dry eye so she will need prescription eye drops for the rest of her life so she needs an adopter with the time, means and ability to administer them twice daily, and make sure her eyes are closely monitored so that she can receive care if any future trouble develops. Like a lot of small breed doggies, Bella has intermittent skin issues mostly in the form of itching. When she came to us, her coat was in bad shape and she had several hot spots and areas that needed treatment. As you can see, Bella’s hair has completely grown back into a beautiful full and fluffy coat. She takes a pill called Apoquel to manage her skin issues. She readily gobbles it up when placed inside a treat and she sits still for her eye drops too. Bella is going to make some lucky adopter a wonderful furry best friend and constant companion. If you think you are Bella’s perfect match, head over to our website www.unitedyorkierescue.org and complete an application to adopt her today or email tnyorkiemama@yahoo.com more more info.
