My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Comet is just shy of 18 mths old who is an Australian Shepherd, American Cattle Dog mix. This tricolored boy is the sweetest. He absolutely loves and adores his people. And will happily follow them everywhere. We are looking for a home with a yard, probably not suited for apartment living. While he is not good with strange dogs, he is excellent with dogs that he has been slowly and properly introduced too. He won’t be a dog park dog. But, he can have doggy friends. If intros are done correctly. His best friends, in his foster home are a 1.5 yr old malinois and a 7 month old yorkie mix. He plays great, with them both. He is also good with their Pugs and terrier mix. However, he is not good with cats. So absolutely no kittie friends for him. He thinks that they are for chasing. No small children, he seems to be afraid of them. 12 and over. He is approx 45 lbs. with a long and lean, athletic build. He enjoys learning new things. And has mastered the agility tunnel at his foster home. Comet is crate, house, and muzzle trained. Walks well on a leash but, will be reactive when seeing strange dogs. So, it’s best to turn around and give him the space he needs to feel safe. Comet is looking for a family that can commit to him long term. A family that doesn’t need to have him around other dogs. One that will give him, what he needs to be happy. He would love a family with a nice yard and even a pool. Kiddie pools work just fine too. He loves playing in the water.
He’s a dog that really does well with a mid afternoon nap, in his crate. Otherwise, he gets overly energetic and wound up. So please give him time to rest. It’s essential. Comet is ready for a forever and ever family. Are you ready for a sweet and loyal boy?

It is necessary and important to give a dog time, understanding, patience and kindness while they are adjusting to their new lives. Time to decompress. It is up to us to teach them how to navigate our world, not punish them or be impatient with their timeline. The more time you give with NO expectations, the deeper and more loving your relationship will be with them. Time is the MOST important gift you can give to your dog.

We are a FORCE FREE rescue. The adoption contract you will be signing specifically states that you agree to NEVER use any aversive methods nor tools like a shock, prong or choke collar. Please, consider everything when making a decision to adopt a dog. As part of your adoption package, each dog will be fully vaccinated (Da2PP, Rabies), have a microchip, and be spayed/neutered. You may need to come back to us to complete shots, spay or neuter, hw test. You will receive 6 mths of HW preventative. You will receive a free bag of premium dog food, as well as a gift card from Choice Pet Market if you live in one of the designated zip codes. We give you 4 training classes, this is MANDATORY and will be scheduled at a later date and place
