Meet Patches! She is the perfect size at 43lbs, and is smaller than she might seem in her photos. Patches is a bundle of love and all she wants is belly rubs and pets! She's a super sweet girl who loves to play- she will chase a ball (though she hasn't really grasped the concept of bringing it back lol) and loves to chew on Himalayan chews! She likes having her human around and will come to you for cuddles, scratches and lovin'. She loves human attention from folks of all ages. Patches is wonderful with people, kids and even babies (see our video of her with a baby). However, she gets VERY excited with cats, birds or squirrels and has a high prey drive. For this reason we think that Patches would do best as an only dog, or perhaps housed with a super submissive dog who doesn't mind sharing the limelight. She's full of character and wants to be the center of attention! We will not place her in a home with cats or other small animals and would only place her with another dog with the right personality. Patches is as sweet as can be and though she loves to run and play, in the house she is calm and will find a place to relax and chill out.
Patches knows how to sit and wait although her excitement usually doesn't let her sit still for too long especially if she is waiting for a treat! She is food motivated and responds well to gentle verbal correction and as such will make a great training partner. She will pull on a harness but walks well in a gentle leader/ halti head collar although she doesn't really like it.
Patches would love an active person, couple or family who loves the outdoors. Patches truly loves being outside exploring. She would make a wonderful running, hiking and adventure buddy and she would most definitely keep up with you. Patches is also crate trained and we are looking for an adopter who would continue with that in their home as well to maintain her stability and ease her transition. As a purely foster-based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs. Therefore, we only honor meet requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file. Please complete our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can and allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteer staff. Patches' adoption fee is $375 which includes transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping. Completion of obedience training is a requirement for adoption through AARF.
