My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**NOTE: We are taking applications but meet and greets for this boy will not commence until he is cleared by the vet next week.**

Say hello to Hermes! Or Zippy as his foster mom sometimes likes to call him. This little guy is a 3-4 year old Chihuahua mix who is just 8 pounds. Hermy came to us from Arkansas and was heartworm positive at the time. He immediately went to the vet for treatment and is now 3 weeks into recovery. His adopters will need to be aware that he will need to be rechecked at the 6 month mark and he will need to stay on a low activity level during that time.

Hermy is a very energetic chi. He loves to run circles around his foster mom's feet and zip around the house with a toy in his mouth. He absolutely LOVES attention and is not afraid to ask for it. His other joys include sitting on his foster mama's lap whenever he can and burying his toys and bones wherever he can. Sometimes he hides them in blankets, sometimes it's in a pile of clothes and once he even hide them in the cat's litter box.

Hermes likes to be picked up and would let you carry him around all day if you can get by with one hand. He has done well with the other dogs in the house. He does OK with the resident cat, he likes to bark at her but keeps his distance since she's bigger than he is. Families with small children are not recommended due to the fact that he will sometimes nip at hands or pants when he wants attention.
