Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sullivan (1 y.o) is a pop of personality who brings a big smile to everyone who meets him! Sullivan chock-full of positive energy and will sit sweetly for you to channel those good vibes. Born in late 2018, Sullivan came to the rescue on 9/28/2019. He was found as a stray then made his way to the high-kill shelter. He was pulled from the shelter just in time and his life was saved. He stayed in a foster home, till he was transported to the rescue in Goldens Bridge, NY (Westchester County). Sullivan is a resilient dog. He is loving, and so so sweet which is amazing considering all of the changes he has had in his young life.
Sullivan will be happy to entertain you with his antics with one of his favorite toys. Sullivan is learning skills such as walking nicely on a leash, and mastering basic obedience. Sullivan is housebroken, crate trained, and knows how to sit already. Sullivan is great with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats yet but this can be done per request.
In his new home, he would do fine with daily walks or fenced in yard. Due to this size, invisible fence would not be appropriate for him. He must be watched carefully within a secure fencing/enclosure when he's playing outside due to the threat of wildlife.
At the rescue he is working on meeting people appropriately, as he tends to be very excited or a little shy. When he sees someone he knows, he does a happy dance, wiggling around and folding his body in half. So far, he has met several people and has done really well. He has an amazing ability to build rapports with his caregivers. Sometimes, during first time interactions with new people, he may not want anyone to touch him (and that’s okay!) He can be very affectionate once you're in with him, but he can be a bit timid when getting to know him. If he is given time and space, he warms up quickly.
Sullivan is looking for a person who will be committed to setting him up for success in a home. If you'd be willing to love this little guy, he would love to meet you.
The rescue will offer support to help Sullivan and his new family so he can acclimate to his new home and work on rapport building through play, touch, and cookies!
