Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Fireball is a 4-year-old neutered male chocolate lab. Fireball weighs 64 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION: October 11, 2019: Fireball has made his foster so proud! He's made such great strides. He is timid of new situations and new people. He had an evaluation at daycare and got to stay half the day. He mostly observed and stuck by his foster sister. A couple days later he stayed all day. He's now so excited to go and even goes right in the door without hesitation. From one of the handlers at the daycare: "I cannot tell you the change Fireball has made in such a short amount of time. He enjoys daycare so much and is getting more and more comfortable with the handlers every minute that passes. He is truly a wonderful one of a kind dog." Fireball has really come out of his shell. He's super sweet and loves to cuddle with humans and dogs. He also loves squeaky toys and tennis balls.
October 9, 2019: Fireball is a shy boy went to daycare and everyone fell in love with him! Fireball is approved for kids 10+, requires a physical fence and will need to go home with another canine sibling. He rides well in the car, walks well with an EZ walk harness, is house-trained, sleeps all night, shares toys (not possessive at all). Basically, he's perfect!
October 4, 2019: Isn't he handsome? Fireball loves other dogs. He's a bit shy and warms up to women faster than men. He's a big, sweet goofball! He's house-trained and goes in the crate when asked although he does not require a crate. He's looking for a home with a physical fence, another canine sibling, and a couch to chill out on. Kids 10+ as he doesn't realize how strong he is. He doesn't jump but will try to get in your lap.
September 30, 2019: Fireball is happy to report that he has completed his heartworm treatment and is ready for his forever family to come meet him! He is a little shy at first, but warms up and is a total love bug. He loves other dogs and loves playing with toys, tennis balls and chewing bones.
August 14, 2019: An update from Fireball himself: "FIREBALL’s my name, and toys are my game! I LOVE toys… all kinds of toys! Stuffies! Tennis balls! Nylabones! Frisbees! And I LOVE other dogs! In fact, the nice people at Lab Rescue promised they would find me a forever home with another dog to cuddle and play with.
Don't let the gray on my face fool you—I'm only four years old. I prefer to think of it as sugar that makes me that much sweeter. I’m having a great time at my foster home. I was kind of hesitant at first, but I’ve learned hoomans can be patient, kind, gentle, and loving. They just need to go a little slow with me. Now that I've settled in, I like to put my head in Foster Mom's lap on the couch or cuddle in bed with Foster Dad. I’m thinking of changing my name to 'Cuddle Bug'. I do prefer women, but I am fine with men if they are introduced slowly.
Though I love it here, I’m still waiting for my perfect family to find me. I'd like a fenced yard and another canine sibling to show me the ropes and keep me company. I am house-trained, share well, and don’t mind the crate when my fosters have to go out. In the meantime, I'm having fun romping with my foster sister and playing with all of her toys. I especially like the squeaky ones!"
August 3, 2019: Fireball had a crazy week! His foster sister got sick and went to the hospital, and he did not understand why she was gone. He was really happy when she came home:) He needs another dog sibling to show him the ropes and give him confidence.
July 26, 2019: A Fireball Friday update from, well, FIREBALL!! It's me again, Fireball! Don't let the gray on my face fool you, I'm only four years old. My foster mom said I must have had a really stressful life before I came to Lab Rescue. I'm still waiting for my perfect family to find me. I'd love a fenced yard and another canine sibling to show me the ropes. In the meantime, I'm having fun playing with my foster sister and playing with all of her toys. I especially like the squeaky ones!
July 16, 2019: Fireball arrived at his new foster home and is settling in nicely. He's a little shy until he knows he can trust you. He loves sitting next to you on the couch and laying his head in your lap. He loves his foster sister and all of her toys and bones (thankfully, she shares!). He has proven that he is house-trained and good in the crate.
July 12, 2019: Fireball had a rough night listening to the resident bark through the thunderstorm. He is compensating by taking a lovely snooze on the sofa! He is a lovebug and will cuddle on the sofa or in the bed. Fireball and the resident pup run around playing with each other like a bunch of puppies. He loves his toys and takes treats ever so gently.
July 5, 2019: Fireball loves to be surrounded by his toys. He LOVES stuffed animals, hard Nylabones and tennis balls. Fireball loves to snuggle in bed or on the sofa. He can eat in kitchen with the other dogs and never goes to their bowls when he finishes first. Fireball Is house-trained and doesn't mind the crate when his fosters have to go out.
June 28, 2019: Fireball LOVES all kinds of toys. He likes to chase balls and frisbees. Fireball has always been with another dog and loves playing with the resident dogs. Fireball is housebroken and doesn't mind being crated when you go out. He is hesitant with men, but he is making progress in that area.
June 22, 2019: Fireball is a loving boy and has made himself at home with his fosters. He LOVES the resident dogs and has to be as close to them as possible. Fireball loves stuffed toys and his fosters need to retrieve them from the backyard before bed each night:) He also likes to retrieve tennis balls with the resident dog, and asks for his own because she is faster than him! He is still afraid of men and we are working to make him more comfortable. He sleeps right next to foster dad, so he simply. needs patience and a little time to adjust. Fireball needs to gain a little weight, another dog for companionship and a fenced yard. Fireball will make some family a wonderful companion.
May 27, 2019: Fireball is shy when he first meets you (better with women then men). When he came in he would not come to meet me, he was also scared if you raised your hand or threw something and he caught it out of the corner of his eye, I think he was abused in his old home most likely by a man. Have been going down and taking him out every day, he will now come up to me and take treats. The other day I put him out with River and his demeanor changed, he started playing with River and picked up his first toy since he had been here to play keep away. He would like an active family that has a yard for him to play in and will give him the attention, training, and exercise he needs.
Must go home with another dog.
