My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SCOUT is an 8-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Scout weighs 103 but needs to lose about 25 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

DESCRIPTION Scout has been in his foster home for three weeks now. He does show evidence of some allergies, but most of his licking seems to have been boredom and stress related. He is now eating higher quality poultry-free commercial food and has had an allergy shot for his symptoms and does seem much more comfortable. He also had two benign lumps and a skin tag removed and will be getting his stitches out next week.

Scout is a character: he will let you know exactly where you stand if he wants attention or it's mealtime. He gets along great with the three resident senior labs, even though they call him "Tubby". (Scout gained over 25 pounds in three months at his adoptive home!) Scout's adopters inadvertently reinforced his tendency to bark for attention by giving him treats to quiet him; in the two weeks he has been with us, we have significantly reduced the barking, although he will join in with the residents when they bark at something legitimate (or that they think is legitimate). We have not yet cat tested him, but will in the near future; he was previously said to be good with cats.

Scout loves to go for car rides, and his massive girth does not preclude his getting into an SUV unassisted; he isn't too fond of stop lights and will try to encourage you to run them. He loves to stick his head out the window so we will detour into subdivisions with low speed limits to humor him.

Scout's favorite spot is the couch and he is an incredibly sound sleeper, and quiet snorer. He hasn't gotten into anything he shouldn't, and isn't too keen on toys, but will grab a bone or chew toy from time to time.
