Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Teddy and his two brothers found themselves abandoned and living in a park in east Austin for several months. It took months for anyone to notice they weren't going home to anyone at night. By the time they were reported, they wouldn't let anyone catch them...humans had done them wrong and they weren't going to be fooled again.
But a few days and a few creative trap strategies later and teddy was the last to be caught. A smart and funny little guy, he evaded capture, but once caught, turned into a lovey little buddy overnight. He likes to play and take walks. He's at a medium activity level. He loves to play with other dogs and has done well with all other dogs he meets. He does ok with crate training, but barks a lot when he first goes in and can hear you are still getting out of the door. He settles down after an adjustment, but he definitely prefers to be with his humans. He is house-trained and learning to sit. He has learned to walk on a leash quite well.
Teddy would do best with older kids as he doesn't have a real clear idea of boundaries. He should do fine with older kids who can help discipline him. He's not much of a jumper but has learned to use the dog stairs to get up into bed to cuddle. But he is good in his own bed close to you too. Teddy is a bit of a velcro dog and needs companionship. He will do best in a home either with other dogs, where the humans are home a lot, or who are committed to regular doggie day care.
Teddy is a sweet guy who is very excited to find his own family. As with any dog that has come from a stressful situation, he may be a flight risk at the beginning as he settles into a new place, but he has been able to form bonds very quickly and should be a part of the family in no time! Teddy would love to spend his days following you around!
