My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Ava!

I have come a long way to get to the US! Travelling all the way from Oman to be here at Fast Friends. I was rescued off the streets at a very young age with my siblings and mother and have lived most of my life in shelters, but really would love a home of my own. I am 4 years old and weigh approximately 40lbs.

I would really like a home that is quiet and understands that it will take me time to adjust to new people and situations. I love to go for walks. My favorite part is to sit down occasionally, so that you can pat me and tell me how good I am doing on our walk. Once I get to know you, I walk great on a leash and my manners are some of the best in the shelter.

Please consider adopting me. I’m willing to show just how much love I can show you in a home.

Ava is looking for a quiet home, with moderate activity level.

More about this rescue

Fast Friends is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to educating the public about Greyhounds and sighthounds from around the world with the primary goal of finding responsible, loving homes for them. Fast Friends envisions a world where no Greyhound or sighthound lacks for a loving home and these breeds are valued and celebrated for their uniqueness.

Fast Friends works closely with both international and domestic partners to bring retired racing Greyhounds and other sighthounds in need from countries where they have almost no chance of a local adoption to its facility in Swanzey, New Hampshire. Each dog receives high quality care with a focus on one-on-one staff time and individualized plans to help them overcome any neglect or trauma they have experienced so that they can be successful in a home. We are dedicated to taking in dogs with the most challenging circumstances.
