My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella is a 3 1/2 year old terrier mix who looks like a combination of many different breeds. She is fully housebroken, very little shedding, and never barks or whines, and sleeps all night next to the bed until you tell her it's time to go outside in the morning. She is very sweet and affectionate and is one of the best dogs I've had. Her only issue is a strong prey drive and a strong dislike of other animals that are not dogs. She seems good with other dogs during our walks, and loves humans, but had to be surrendered from her long time owner after several attacks on chickens, squirrels, and a cow on their farm. Stella will make a great pet for a home with no other animals, or possibly another dog after a good introduction. but she does not like farm animals or wildlife.

We think Stella would benefit from some obedience training and consistency with owner commands to get her to heel and come when called to prevent her from running and leash pulling when she sees squirrels and birds on her walks. She is only 38Lbs but solid muscles and very strong when she pulls on her leash. We believe these behaviors can be corrected and she seems very trainable as she seems to understand the sit and stay commands.

Stella loves to go on walks, and also likes to sit and look out the window. For a dog who came from a farm, she is exceptionally good in the condo at her foster home. It is recommended that she stay on leash or in a yard with a tall fence as she got off leash once with her foster and took a nice jog until we caught her.

Stella is a very easy, low maintenance dog who will snuggle next to you or challenge you to tug-o-war with her toys. Her foster family has gotten very attached to her and know she will make a great long time companion.

**PS: The foster family will be taking her out of town with them for a week. We've been told by her former owner that she loves water so they are looking forward to letting her fetch tennis balls while they spend some time on the lake.

Stella’s adoption fee is $250, and adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad City Area.
